The Lowell Sun Charities established the New England Golden Gloves in 1947 to support amateur boxing, youth sports, and countless charities that help the homeless, veterans, food pantries, Boys & Girls Clubs, and cancer research programs throughout Massachusetts. A Lowell winter tradition, the tournament is held at the historic Lowell Memorial Auditorium typically in January, February and March of each year. The New England Golden Gloves covers all 6 New England states, including Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine
